How it works
Plain words in. Exact parts out.
- 1
Describe it
Write what you need in plain words, or start from a shape in the library.
- 2
Preview & adjust
Spin the 3D model, tap any area to change it, add threads, holes or text.
- 3
Export & print
Download a watertight STL tuned to your printer and material, then print.
Tips for a great first result
- • Give sizes in millimetres: “60 mm wide, 3 mm walls”.
- • Say what it attaches to: “fits an iPhone 15”, “for M5 bolts”.
- • Mention how it should fit: snug, sliding, or screwed.
Questions people ask
How do I make an STL file without CAD software?
Describe the part in plain words in Milmetra Maker, for example “a 60 mm wide box with 3 mm walls and a sliding lid”. Milmetra builds the 3D model in your browser and you download it as an STL.
Can AI design a 3D printable part?
Yes. Milmetra uses AI to turn your description into a model built from exact millimetre measurements, so the exported STL is watertight and ready for your slicer.
Will screw threads and holes fit after printing?
Milmetra adds clearance for threads, screw holes, pegs and sliding parts based on your printer, material and nozzle. Print a calibration piece or answer “Did it fit?” and future parts adjust.
Which printers and materials does it work with?
Any printer that accepts STL files. Fit settings are kept separately for each printer, material and nozzle, including PLA, PETG, ASA/ABS, TPU and resin.
Can I edit a model I already have?
Yes. Import STL, STEP or OBJ files, then add threads, holes or text, split large parts, and export again.
Can I make a 3D part from a photo?
Yes. Take a photo of the object with a coin, bank card or ruler next to it. Milmetra measures it and builds a holder, case or mount that fits, ready to export as an STL.
Can I print a replacement for a broken part?
Yes. Upload up to three photos of the broken piece. Milmetra identifies the part, estimates its key sizes and rebuilds it, including the section that snapped off. Check the sizes before printing.
